National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is the highest advisory body of Ministry of Education, Govt. of India in the matters of School and Teacher Education. It caters to the educational needs of the states and UTs of the country in the areas of research, development and training in school education. It comprises of eight constituents including five Regional Institute of Educations (RIEs) located at different parts of the country. These institutes are set up in five regions of the country namely Eastern region (at Bhubaneswar), Northern region ( at Ajmer), North East region (at Shillong), Southern region (at Mysuru), and Western region (at Bhopal). The RIEs are model teacher education institutes in the areas of school and teacher education. The institutes have endeavored to shoulder the responsibilities and challenges generated by changes in the educational scenario of the country.
